More Prompts and a Remnant Update
I got distracted with Remnant: From The Ashes, so here are the Promptapalooza prompts I missed:
Tell us about a person/s or thing/s that has greatly influenced you. Most of the people on that list would be family or people I’ve known personally, but the first “famous” name that came to mind is Brian May, guitarist for Queen. I don’t play much like him, but his intellectual approach to musicianship has inspired me greatly.
What is your earliest memory related to one of your core fandoms? I reject the phrase “core fandom” in the same way I would reject the phrase “synergize core competencies” but I talked about this in my post on media influences.
Write that one post you wanted to write so often, but always postponed. Finally do it! Very glad I didn’t get this one. :) I rarely keep a post in my head for more than a day or two, so if there was a post I wanted to write for a long time, I wouldn’t remember what it was now anyway.
By the way, GGGG’s post (and blog) is about Gwent, which is the card game from The Witcher. I’ve always envied people who can enjoy those Magic-style card games, but I just can’t get into them.
If you could meet any person you look up to, who would it be? There are many people I look up to, but meeting people is very stressful for me, so I would not want to do this. Anyway, if we’re talking about “famous” people, I typically look up to people for the work they do, not the person they are.
I’ve noticed that my prompt day is looming just ten days from now, and I still have no idea what to say. I might need to alter a word or two of the prompt.
In Remnant: From The Ashes, I defeated Singe on the second try and then went on to the Tower and the Labyrinth and a place called The Eastern Wind, which seems to be somewhat Stargate-inspired.
The next “boss” I encountered was a thing called The Lost Gantry, which just throws tons of enemies at you while you wait for a door to open. It was another situation, similar to Shroud, where luck played a very important role in getting through it. It took around 20 tries before I stumbled into the right combination of randomness to survive. I got a Beam Rifle for my efforts, which, as far as I can tell so far, is pretty useless. In terms of weaponry, nothing has yet come close to beating carefully placed Hunting Rifle shots.
